| Open a new image 500 x 500 pixels, transparent back ground. Add a new layer naming it "petal 1" then click your shapes tool and set it as I have below. Set your foreground and background colour to the colour you want your flower to be. For this tutorial I am using a bright yellow #FFFF00 |
![]() |
| Draw an ellipse like I have...This will be your top petal on your flower. | ![]() |
| Go to edit then copy then add a new layer called "petal 2" then paste as new selection moving it down below your first petal leaving a small space between. This one is your bottom petal. |
![]() |
| Now add another layer and call it "petal 3" and paste again as a new selection but this time you will have to rotate it. To rotate it, click your deformation tool and using the middle handle on your leaf, turn it until it is side ways. You are making the left petal. When you have it the way you want click apply in the tool box. Now position that to the left side with a little space between it and the other petals. Copy that layer(petal 3) then add a new layer called "petal 4" and paste the leaf, place it on the right side same as you did for the left. |
![]() |
| Now you can click layers, merge visible.
Now this might be tricky for some but it will be fine :) Copy that merged layer then paste as a new layer. What you are trying to do here is form the corner leaves. You will have to use the deformation tool again and move it around and play with it until its in place as you like. Once it is you can click apply in the tool box then merge visible layers. You will have something like this. |
![]() |
| Click the selection tool and draw a rectangle around your image, then click the image so you have it all selected. Using your airbrush tool set as follows...Your flower colour as primary and white as background... Your going to paint white in the tips of each petal. Solid white. |
![]() |
| When you have them all done your going to spray using the yellow but one click in each petal where the white meets the yellow. |
![]() |
| Click the little hand tool (retouch) and set it as follows... | ![]() |
| You're going to drag the white into the yellow and the yellow into the white. This may take a while to get a look you like. Keep playing and you should end up with something like this. |
![]() |
| Now you can deselect your flower. Add a new layer and using your selection tool set to circle, feather 2 antianlias checked, draw a circle in the middle of your flower and flood fill it with a colour a little bit darker than the colour of your flower. Deselect it and go up to image / blur / gaussian blur of 4...apply. You should have this. |
![]() |
| Now you can merge layers visible again Using your airbrush tool set as follows. |
![]() |
| You are going to spray white around the edge of your circle and your flower colour in the middle. |
![]() |
| Add a new layer and using the paintbrush tool as follows p |
![]() |
| Paint white dots in the flower. | ![]() |
| I added a few smaller dots also. Now add a gaussian blur of 1. THAT"S IT. Now you can save it as it is or you can reduce the size or you can colourize it to make it a different colour. Just be sure you only colourize the flower layer and not the dots layer :) |
